Cure Parkinson’s patron and TV comedy writer Paul Mayhew-Archer has written a wonderful poem as part of our Christmas Appeal, based on the notion that Father Christmas has Parkinson’s.

To help him deliver his message, Paul was joined by some well-known friends and supporters of Cure Parkinson’s. Thank you to Rory Cellan-Jones, Paul Sinha, Mike Tindall and Omotola Thomas for helping to bring Paul’s funny, moving poem to life.

Paul’s poem was debuted at the Cure Parkinson’s virtual Christmas concert, Carols for a Cure, on 8 December, and loved by all who attended. We were also delighted to have performances by the Merchant Taylors’ School Chamber Choir, harpist Aideen McHugh and Greg Scott, playing the bagpipes. There was a Christmas address from the former Bishop of London, Lord Chartres, and festive readings from Cure Parkinson’s fundraisers Meriel Buxton and Peter Burns. The Cure Parkinson’s staff even dusted off their Christmas jumpers to perform an ‘enthusiastic’ rendition of ‘Merry Christmas Everyone.’

If you are inspired by Paul and his friends reading his poem, please consider a donation to our Christmas Appeal.
