Professor Heather Mortiboys
Dr Heather Mortiboys is a Senior Research Fellow at Sheffield University where her primary focus is mitochondria in neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Parkinson’s. Her lab uses patient derived primary and reprogrammed cells differentiated into dopaminergic neurons and astrocytes, to understand what causes mitochondrial dysfunction in Parkinson’s; then using this knowledge to identify small molecules which can improve or restore mitochondrial function.
