The funds and awareness raised by our Fundraising Heroes helps support our vital research seeking to slow, stop or reverse Parkinson’s – we couldn’t do it without you!

Fundraising in memory of a loved one

19-year-old John wanted to set himself a challenge to raise funds in memory of his grandfather, Johnny, who lived with Parkinson’s, so organised a charity Ultra White Collar Boxing event.

John, pictured left when he was younger with his grandad (centre), said: “I chose Cure Parkinson’s because my grandad battled Parkinson’s for many years. When we had to say goodbye to him, I decided that I would like to do something to raise awareness for this horrible condition and raise money to help with research.”

John, who was new to the sport prior to the challenge, set himself a goal to raise £1,500 but managed to raise a staggering £17,000 (close to £20,000 with gift aid) in support of our research!

Demonstrating just how incredible his fundraising effort has been, John was named the Ultra White Collar Boxing Top Fundraiser of the Year too. Huge congratulations, John!

Battersea Half Marathon

Meanwhile supporter Iain took part in the Battersea Half Marathon with two friends to raise funds and awareness for us.

Iain won the portrait of Rory Cellan-Jones’ rescue dog turned social media sensation #SophieFromRomania by artist Rosemary Burn in our raffle last year, and chose to run in a one-of-a-kind t-shirt featuring Sophie’s portrait. Thank you for your continued support, Iain!
