Our fantastic runners raised over £15,500 for our Parkinson’s research at this year’s Royal Parks Half Marathon

19 incredible Cure Parkinson’s supporters took part in this year’s Royal Parks Half Marathon to raise funds and awareness for our research, running the 13.1 miles in glorious autumnal sunshine.

Last year’s Royal Parks Half Marathon was held virtually due to COVID-19, so it was wonderful to see this year’s event return in-person. The route passed by some of London’s most iconic landmarks and through four of London’s eight Royal Parks – Hyde Park, Green Park, St James’s Park, and Kensington Gardens.

This year’s ‘Team Cure’ came together from all over the UK, and included Cure Parkinson’s own CEO Will Cook. Three generations of an inspirational Isle of Wight family also ran; Annie Dawes, age 73, lives with Parkinson’s and took on the half marathon with her son Max (35), daughter-in-law Natasha (43), and 17-year-old grandson Oskar. Other members of their family joined Annie for the final two miles of the race, singing her favourite Beatles songs to help her cross the finish line in under four hours!

Congratulations to all our amazing supporters for taking on this epic half marathon, and a big thank you for choosing to raise funds and awareness for Cure Parkinson’s.
